Richard V. Tong is an American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM)–certified Exercise Physiologist with a degree in Exercise and Sports Science from the University of San Francisco. With nearly four decades of experience, he has built a career that bridges the worlds of elite fitness instruction, corporate wellness strategy, and executive consulting.
Richard is widely respected for his ability to translate evidence-based research into practical, engaging fitness experiences. His classes are known for their intelligent structure, deep anatomical awareness, and a teaching style that connects mindfully with participants across all levels. His extensive background includes work in functional strength training, postural alignment, active aging, and mind–body disciplines such as yoga and meditation.
In addition to his hands-on teaching and coaching, Richard consults with investors, health clubs, executive teams, and media production studios—evaluating the safety, validity, and marketability of fitness and wellness content. His behind-the-scenes expertise ensures that programming—from boutique gyms to global streaming platforms—reflects the highest standards of effectiveness and integrity. His recent advisory work includes contributions to major streaming services and national wellness brands, though many of his consulting engagements remain under strict NDA.
Richard is also a Screen Actors Guild–accredited actor with a background in film, television, and voiceover work. His creative experience enhances his teaching presence and media consulting, bringing charisma, clarity, and performance discipline to everything from live instruction to on-camera delivery.
Richard has served on the advisory board of the former Sports Club LA (now Equinox) and continues to influence the direction of the industry at both the grassroots and executive levels. He is a passionate advocate for lifelong learning, evidence-based practice, and the kind of soulful leadership that elevates both individual well-being and collective growth.
